Update: Mark Castillo Joins Emmure on Drums

Mark Castillo formerly of Bury Your Dead, Between the Buried & Me, Crossfade, and The Acacia Strain is rumoured to have joined Emmure. Castillo left Bury Your Dead last year after the completion of their lastest album Mosh 'n' Roll. He went on to join hard-rock group Crossfade (many accused him of "selling-out"). Now it seems though he has moved onto to deathcore giants Emmure who are currently recording their 5th full-length. Emmure very publicly split with their former drummer Mike Kaabe earlier this year and no fill-in or replacement was every announced. This is still unconfirmed and also unclear whether or not Castillo would be touring with the band afterwards or just doing some session studio work. This would be a good move on Emmure's part, Castillo is regarded as one of the best drummers in the genre. Stay tuned for more updates.

Update: From guitarist Jesse Ketive:
"Mark Castillo has been a good friend for a few years now. Mark approached us as he heard through the grapevine that EMMURE needed a helping hand, so at that point I chatted with him about possibly recording our new CD and playing some shows. After jamming the set a few times we all decided that Mark was the perfect fit for us and undoubtedly should be our new drummer. He is the upmost professional and his work on the new effort in going to really help us bring everything to another level. Everyone better watch out."
Well this is very interesting. For the first time since The Respect Issue, I'm excited to hear the new Emmure!

  1. I just don't know how I feel about this. Goodbye to the gallows and complete guide to needlework are great. Cover your tracks is amazing. So this would be neat if true if they kept to early roots because mosh n roll disappointed me big time and new emmure is sell out-ish.

  2. I agree. Hopefully Emmure can put out their first good album since Goodbye to the Gallows this time.
