The Black Dahlia Murder post new track

For a band to reach the heights that The Black Dahlia Murder have, and to cultivate the following that they have in their 10-year blip in the existence of metal music is nothing short of impressive. They are my favorite modern death metal band, and even then I think they stack up pretty impressively compared to older, more groundbreaking acts.
But The Black Dahlia Murder have had this new album called Ritual in the works for a while, which actually slipped below my radar for the longest time. I've been waiting for a sample, a preview track, anything to be released by the band so I could tantalize my ears until the fucking thing is finally released, and they have finally delivered. The song is called 'Moonlight Equilibrium' and it can be heard on The Black Dahlia Murder's Metal Blade page here!
They also have a shit-ton of sweet pre-order packages for Ritual, which you should all also check out if you're a collector of band merch or simply an occult enthusiast.

Wayback Playback --> Luti-Kriss (Norma Jean) ---> Light Blue Collar

Released in 2001 under the name "Luti-Kriss" this exact band would become Norma Jean. For all you Chariot fans, that's Josh Scogin in 2001. Love his hair cut.

Holyfuckingshit, new Earth Crisis album completed

The name Earth Crisis should mean big things to you. I don't care if you're not vegan or straight-edge (I'm not) and I don't care if you kicked a puppy this morning and you think global warming is a government hoax, this band should mean something to you.
They've been around since 1989 when they began in New York and since then have earned the title of one of the most influential bands in metalcore, perhaps not in a musical sense but more in the sense that it promoted a lifestyle in metal that really exploded after they hit the scene.
They broke up in 2002 and reformed in 2007. In 2009 they released To The Death, crushingly heavy proof that they hadn't lost their edge in that 5 year span. Now fans have another album from Earth Crisis to look forward to. Scheduled for release on July 12 through Century Media Records, their new album Neutralize The Threat is 10 new tracks inspired by acts of global vigilantism that culminate the sound of everything from Gamorah's Season Ends to To The Death.
The band released this statement regarding the upcoming album:

"We are very happy with how 'Neutralize The Threat' came out. Musically, it resembles the song structures on 'To The Death', but with a 'Gomorah's Season Ends' vibe thrown in. Every song is lyrically inspired by real-life vigilante actions that have taken place around the globe. The topics range from The Black Panther Party to Bernard Goetz and we think it's an original lyrical concept for the band, while also retaining some subject matter we are known for dealing with in the past. Zeuss is the man and definitely delivered the best sounding record we have ever had! We can't wait for you guys to hear it!"

Bring Me The Horizon's Drummer Breaks Hand

Matt Nicholls the drummer of English metal band, Bring Me The Horizon has broken his hand while on tour. Nicholls apparently got the injury from a game of soccer with the boys. He will be forced to miss the remainder of the band's UK tour. However, it appears that Dan Searle from Architects will fill in for the rest of the tour. Frontman Oli Sykes issued the following statement:

"So Matt's broken his hand! Fuck! But do not fear! All shows are going ahead with Dan of Architects taking the role of drumming. Matt, as are we, are all gutted that he can't be a part of these huge shows. But we're just happy we don't have to cancel! We will see you at the shows!"

The Daily Grind – Song of the Day: Fozzy - With The Fire

Do you remember when I said that occasionally I'd pick a really terrible song for this? Well today I've got something special for y'all. For all of you who know about the band Fozzy, I'm sorry for you. Not as sorry as I am for those of you who actually enjoy this shit. They are a hard rock/heavy metal band from San Antonio, Texas fronted by none other than former six-time WWE wrestling champ, Chris Jericho.
The band actually has a pretty light-hearted and humorous back story, which I won't get into because it really has nothing to do with how bad this band is. Their first two albums consisted of mostly covers of classic metal bands. Never mind that Jericho hitting Dio-like notes looks absolutely wrong, and that the lyrical content is what you would expect from somebody who used to get smashed in the head with folding metal chairs for a living. But, I suppose even wrestlers have to find something else to do when they're done with the industry.
I guess the important thing to remember about this video is that it's a joke, but the music isn't. It's funny, but once again, being humorous doesn't turn down the suck on your music. Unless you're GWAR. Anyway, I give the song a failing grade for its generality and all-around lame lyrics, but the video sure gets a pass. Check it out!

Former Manson drummer to tour with Rob Zombie

Rob Zombie is taking on another ex-Marilyn Manson member as Joey Jordison relinquishes his duties on drums to tour with Slipknot this summer. Ginger Fish will be joining his former Manson bandmate, John 5, on stage with Rob Zombie on some hot upcoming shows including Rock Am Ring, Download Festival and Sonisphere.

Brian Posehn to make guest appearance on Evile album

British thrash outfit Evile have announced that comedian Brian Posehn will be featured as a guest on their third studio album. Posehn, who refers to Evile as the "British saviors of thrash metal" says that he is excited to have his yelling on the album. 'The yet untitled album has been completed and mixed and is due out this year.
Here's a statement from guitarist Ol Drake:

"We made it. Evile's third album is mixed and completed. No one got in any fights, no one shouted the word 'Fuck' into anyone's face and it's sounding great. From the last video it was quite evident that we've done a slow, cleaner and more eerie track. The song's initial intention was for Mike/because of the loss of Mike. We all have our individual thoughts on the track; in my eyes the track is for Mike, and for anyone who has lost anyone close or special to them in their life. If people don't like the track or don't understand its sentiment/meaning, I really couldn't care less; it was conceived for us and Mike alone. As Russ said, "It's a brilliant song for a brilliant guy".

"I just want to thank all fans of Evile, old and new, for the continuing support and for following our progress on album three.  With what we've been through over the past two years, we've literally poured our heart and soul into this material for the past year or two, and worked our arses off for the past five weeks getting the album sounding the best it can for us and for you.  I hope all the journalists who hear the album to review it simply review the album and leave it at that.  The album is obviously going to be put up on the internet after its release, but when it leaks prior to its release date, I can tell you from an artist's point of view it's slightly heartbreaking.  Am I not supposed to say that?  Oh well.  I hope you all enjoy our third instalment of Evile as much as we are!”

"This one's for you, Mike."

The Mike he refers to in there is the former bassist for the band, Mike Alexander, who died on tour in October 2009 after suffering a pulmonary embolism. A tribute site can be viewed here.

Bands To Watch: "Bare Bones"

Bare Bones are one of the latest and greatest things to emerge out of Canada's ever growing music scene. Featuring members from many respected local acts (To Cherish, Dead & Divine, Holly Springs Disaster) you could call these guys a local hardcore super-group. Bringing a lot of elements from their previous groups, this pack of young men have created a truly unique sound within the metal and hardcore genre.

To date they have released a three-song online EP which includes strong elements of southern hardcore and melodic metalcore played at a frantic pace. Bassist Sebastian Leuth comments "I'd like to think we sound more like Pantera than Thursday." According to drummer Eric Wood, "We have finished writing a full length album and plan on recording soon. We hope to have something out in the summer or fall."

For more updates on the band and to check out their EP, you can 'like' their facebook page here.

A Life Once Lost Recruits New Drummer

A Life Once Lost from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania have recruited Jordan Crouse on drums. Also a Philadelphia native, Crouse replaces original member Justin Graves who left ALOL in early 2011. Crouse was picked out of a hand full of candidates that auditioned for the spot. Crouse had the following to say,

"I'm stoked to be joining up with A Life Once Lost. Performing at New England Metal and Hardcore Festival two weeks ago was definitely a great experience and I'm looking forward to touring and working on the new record due out later this year."

A Life Once Lost in the meantime is putting the final touches on their "Seasons of Mist" (label) debut that is due out this fall. The artwork will also be done by Paul Romano who designed their last LP, 2007's Iron Gag.  Can't wait for this release! You can check out a pre-production track on their MySpace (ALOL).

Bed Intruder - Metalcore Cover w/Video

Really to me the best thing about the whole Bed Intruder/Antoine Dodson thing is that the rapist is still out there.... wonder what he thinks of the whole phenomenon.

The 'Guaranteed to Suck' File: Jack Osbourne's horror movie

Jack Osbourne is going to be be making a horror movie inspired by his father's band Black Sabbath. This comes shortly after GOD Bless Ozzy Osbourne, a film he co-produced (that's right, he made a film about his own father, who is arguably one of the most well documented men in music today), played at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York. I'm not even going to speculate as to how many strings were pulled to get it in there or if it was only in there because it had the Osbourne family name written all over it.
For what will be hands-down likely one of the worst horror movies to ever be created, Black Sabbath (as the movie will be called), will be produced by Jack and Marc Weingarten, who also co-produced GOD Bless Ozzy Osbourne. Next to nothing has been said about this movie, and honestly the less I hear about it, the better. I can only hope this project gets aborted in its early stages and abandoned like a fat bride at a wedding altar. All that has been said is that it will feature music from Black Sabbath, but the plot will not revolve around that band and shooting is reported to begin at the end of the year, giving Jack plenty of time to fuck this up, or relapse, or whatever.

The Daily Grind - Song of the Day: Himsa - Kiss Or Kill

So I apologize for my lack of posts recently. I've been slacking over the Easter holiday which I hope all of you took advantage of to get boozed with your families and eat wicked-good food. I for one gained 5 pounds over the weekend and it feels great! But along with that, there are some changes going on around here at what is now The Metal & Hardcore Times, and I'm sure they'll be coming at you soon, but we're going to try not to let that get in the way of bringing you the heaviest news we can!
Anyways on to the Daily Grind...
Metalcore has been sort of a dirty word to me for a few years now. I outgrew the stuff almost as quickly as I'd started listening to it. Old metalcore though, the stuff that pioneered the now overburdened genre, has remained and I think always will be listenable to me. Now these guys aren't old but they were around during metalcore's heyday and broke up just as it fizzled out.
Himsa are one of my favorite metalcore bands and I was going to post this song today and then I found out there's a bitchin' video for it. Dig it!

Behemoth announce first tour since frontman fell ill

Behemoth have announced their first tour since frontman Adam Michal Darski, or Nergal as he is better known, was diagnosed with leukemia in August. It is only a Polish tour, but it is a start for the band who have been waiting for Nergal's recovery. The six stop tour of Poland kicks off in October and hopefully means that North American dates are soon to follow. And of course, I wish Nergal a speedy recovery!

The bands on the bill are The Black Dahlia Murder, Whitechapel, Darkest Hour, Six Feet Under, Dying Fetus, As Blood Runs Black, Oceano, Fleshgod Apocalypse and according to the flyer, a special guest half time show featuring Powerglove. One more band TBA.
Seems like a pretty solid lineup but it almost seems like too much of the same thing to me. The Black Dahlia Murder, however awesome they are, headlined this tour in 2008. Whitechapel has been on it before too, but not as a headliner. Darkest Hour and Dying Fetus have played on Summer Slaughter too. I guess the idea here is that this year it's strictly a North American tour, and the first time they've ever had two headliners on Summer Slaughter.

New Video Alert! Agoraphobic Nosebleed – Miscommunication

This is a song from ANb's split with Despise You called And On And On which came out today, actually. It's a pretty crazy video, as can be expected, and there's so many different kinds of footage spliced in here together you barely have time to register the fact you watch a guy get shot in the head. Annoyingly, the last 30 seconds or so of the video is just a man and woman signing to each other while the emergency broadcast tone fucks the inside of your ears out.

William Shatner: Honorary Headbanger of the Year

Check out the interview between Metal Injection's Rob and William Shatner and his wife Elizabeth on the black carpet for the Golden Gods awards. Shatner received the 'Honorary Headbanger' award this year and stopped to talk about his new CD on which Zakk Wylde makes a guest appearance.

On a different note, a while back I mentioned a list of improbable, yet possible, situations that Wylde could get into because of recent and upcoming appearances on various TV spots but working on Shatner's new album definitely should have been on there. Still, I'm happy to see the award go to such a Canadian figure.

Metallica Recording With Rick Rubin Again

Metal masters Metallica have announced recently that they will be recording their follow up to "Death Magnetic" with producer Rick Rubin once again.

Bassist Robert Trujillo gave fans an update while being interviewed on Saturday (Apr. 23) on 93.7 KCLB Rocks! Here are some snippets from the interview below.

When asked if Metallica will once again work with producer Rick Rubin on its follow-up to 2008's "Death Magnetic", Trujillo said, "Yeah. I love working with Rick. Rick, to me, he's sort of a Zen guru spirit that Metallica needs right now. Not to say that we need it right now, 'cause we're getting along incredibly well, we're really excited to write some new music. There's no shortage of riffage in Metallica world right now. And I think it's only gonna get better."

"The first album with Rick was also the first album for me, so in a lot of ways, you're kind of testing the water. Now that we're comfortable with Rick and his incredible engineer, Greg Fidelman, who worked with Slayer, actually, on this last record - it's my hero - it's a great team. And it's only gonna better; I really believe that. So I'm super-excited."

"I know that we've got another couple [of records] in us. And I think there's a demand. It seems like we've got some new fans, and they're waiting [for new music from Metallica]."

First FUCKING Blood - Tees Cause Controversy

Someone over at did a funny little article on First Bloods merch line. Check it out below.

'I’ve got nothing against First Blood. They are a solid band plus they boast ex members of Terror, you can’t go wrong. But this hoodie is a bit much. I mean come on where the fuck are you going to wear this other than a show. Lets make a list where you can’t wear this.
1. On an Airplane
2. At Church
3. To School
4. The Bank
5. A job interview
6. A playground with your kids
7. Thanksgiving dinner
8. Christmas Party at work
9. Visit grandma at the retirement home
10. To the hospital to watch your wife give birth
But in all fairness if you really like Rambo and First Blood then help out newjerseyhardcore by purchasing this Hoodie. Obiviously he was told not to fucking wear this to fucking Christmas dinner fucking again.'
